Biography

Ross Bleckner is an American artist who lives and works in New York (born in 1949, New York). He has taught at many of the nation's most prestigious universities.

 

He has had solo shows at internationally acclaimed exhibition venues such as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in California, Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, and the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh. His works are also held in esteemed public collections around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art and Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art in Oslo, and Museo National Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid. 

 

He uses symbolic imagery rather than direct representation, and his work is visually elusive, with forms that constantly change focus.
