Kezban Arca Batibeki: Nest

Kezban Arca Batibeki: Nest

January 16 - February 15, 2014 / Kezban Arca Batibeki's Nest series is based on a well-known Turkish saying: “The female birds make the nest.” Batibeki has challenged this idea in her work by conveying that the home may not be as safe as it seems. When women become too consumed with the idea of the home as a safe haven and a fairytale-like lifestyle, they can easily lose themselves, succumbing to oppressive circumstances. Thus, Batibeki's works show the importance of women maintaining their independence.
