Biography

Born in 1971 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with a background in Business Administration, artist Sultan Bin Fahad works across a multidisciplinary practice including painting, sculpture, and installation, exploring the material culture of Saudi Arabia through reinterpreted history and stories. Bin Fahad reimagines traditional narratives through contemporary media and found objects, intertwining the past and the present. The artist challenges traditional conventions and invites a new lens to concepts of identity, memory, and impermanence. 

Bin Fahad is driven by evoking multi-layered stories between memories and history. His works reveal a deep engagement with heritage while pushing the boundaries of how it’s perceived and shared today. Recently, bin Fahad has taken inspiration from metal work with architecture through sculpture, invoking man’s relationship with his origin roots and Islamic cities. 

Bin Fahad has presented solo exhibitions across the Middle East in Riyadh, Jeddah and Abu Dhabi, and has participated in several group exhibitions in both his native Saudi Arabia and internationally. His work has been acquired by the Palestine Museum in 2016 and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi in 2020.
