Art Dubai Mixes Big Money, Strong Sales and Edgy Art As Conflict Engulfs Arab World
Leila Heller Gallery is pleased to announce its participation in the sixth edition of Abu Dhabi Art, UAE, November 5 – 8, 2014, at the Saadiyat Cultural District, booth A13. Highlighting formal experimentation by modern and contemporary artists, the booth features a trans-regional grouping of artists who work against the flatness of the canvas to create dynamic art that pushes aesthetic boundaries. Featured artists include: Steven Naifeh, Marcos Grigorian, Yayoi Kusama, Rachel Lee Hovnanian, Ghada Amer, Ran Hwang, Rob Wynne, and Paola Pivi.

Leila Heller Gallery is pleased to announce its participation in The Armory Show 2014, running from March 6-9, at Pier 94. There will be a Vernissage on Wednesday, March 5 from 5-8pm. The gallery will debut new works by Pouran Jinchi, Leila Pazooki, and Hadieh Shafie, which engage with the tradition of calligraphy from a contemporary perspective by deconstructing Farsi text. Two new sculptures by Richard Hudson that explore the human form will also be on view.

The gallery will present a rendition of Leila Heller's iconic exhibition Calligraffiti and an installation of sculpture by Madrid-based sculpture Richard Hudson. Contemporary sales have also been strong in places. Daniel Hamparsumyan, director of sales and exhibitions at Leila Heller Gallery, said they were “extremely pleased at the level of connoisseurship by British and foreign collectors attending Masterpiece,” after it sold Pablo Picasso’s 1967 pencil and wash on paper work Trois Têtes for a “mid six figure sum” to a private European collector.
Over 4 days from 12th-15th April 2013, visitors will have the chance to see leading galleries, retailers, designers, and fashion from emerging and established Istanbul talent across Victoria House’s 25,000 square feet of exhibition space. Visitors to the show will also have the chance to sample a specially designed menu of Luxury Street Food and pastries devised by leading chef Silvena Rowe (Quince); sample traditional Turkish Coffee; and for those over 18 a chance to learn about the authentic way to drink Turkish Raki.

Leila Heller Gallery is pleased to participate in the fourth edition of Abu Dhabi Art, which will take place, from November 7 – 10, 2012, in The Saadiyat Cultural District, Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. During this year’s fair the gallery will feature two distinct exhibitions: one devoted to a selection of new works by Middle Eastern and International contemporary artists and a second, highly-anticipated, two-person show of historically significant paintings by Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner.
Leila Heller Gallery is pleased to participate in Art Platform – Los Angeles, the modern and contemporary art fair for Los Angeles, which debuts its second edition at the historic Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica Airport from September 27 to 30. Leila Heller Gallery will show new and recent work by several contemporary artists at the new fair Art Southampton from Thursday, July 26 through Monday, July 30 on the grounds of the Southampton Elks Lodge, booth A39. The gallery will present an exhibition of work by artists Rachel Lee Hovnanian, Ran Hwang, Iké Udé, and the collaborative team Kate Eric, including mixed media installations, photographs, and paintings.
